As a lifestyle photographer, I get to do a lot of at-home sessions with family and especially families that have little kids. This is one of the few times we’ve had the chance to do an at home couples session! I mean, there was a kid involved, but more of the furry variety! I’ve known Kate since she was in high school and met Gabe when they started dating in college. I shot their spring winery wedding a few years ago, and I’m embarrassed to say I don’t think I’ve seen them in person since then! We will text every so often and check in on each other or connect on social media, but this visit was long overdue!
Right away I had a bit of dog envy. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE our girl, River, but she is in her terrible two’s phase where she has really just started to be a total a-hole. Last week she devoured one of our new area rugs and I didn’t speak to her for the rest of the day. (I hold grudges like that, lol). Anyway, Kate and Gabe have a corgi mix named Beau. He is soft and cuddly and as calm as could be! I like to think he could tell we were “dog people” so he just felt comfortable around us 🙂
We asked Kate and Gabe where they spend most of their time and about some of their daily activities. Their answers went something like this… coffee, the dog, Netflix, the dog, reading, the dog, outside on the balcony, and spending time with the dog. I love the idea of reconnecting with our wedding couples to see how they are doing and what new adventures they are having in their lives.
