Once upon a time…many many years ago…another photographer (and super chill couple) was being really nice and let me tag along with him while he shot a wedding. I was fairly uncertain in my ability to control my camera, and the fact that they were trusting me kind of blew my mind. During this wedding, I learned that photographers are also sometimes wedding plannings, and sometimes we are counselors, sometimes we boss people around, and sometimes we just carry the train of a dress all day. I definitely didn’t become an expert because of this wedding (still not an expert actually) but I was grateful for the opportunity to learn and I got my very first taste of documenting a love story and how very important that responsibility is.
7 years later that very same super chill bride and groom have become great friends of ours. We’ve worked together, traveled to Haiti together, moved each other out of apartments and into homes, and actually, some of us lived together for a while. We have served high school students together, they stood next to us on our wedding day, we have had countless adventures to new restaurants, watched the entire series of How I Met Your Mother together, celebrated graduations and new jobs, prayed with and for each other, and laughed till we cried.
Recently we had the privilege to celebrate once more with them. They invited their new little one, Conley Douglas Wilson, into their family on February 28th! And that super chill couple’s story continues as they become a super chill mom and dad to an incredible little boy. To say that we are proud of them is an understatement.
If you are a parent think back to your first few days at home with a new baby. If you are expecting, continue viewing with anticipation for the day that you will bring YOUR baby home. Everyone says that time goes by so quickly and you forget how tiny they once were. The photos and video below will serve as a reminder of how Conley’s story began – with a mom and dad that were humble enough to say we don’t have it all under control, but we know the One who does…and we are expecting God to do great things through this little boy.
