It’s amazing how much can be accomplished in one week. I told Alex that I really didn’t think we were making that many changes to the house, but then I saw the empty house. It feel almost like we gutted the whole thing! The biggest change has been moving some walls to open up the space. We love how light and airy it is starting to feel now that the natural light can bounce around.
Here are some more photos of this week’s activities. I feel like all I’ve been doing is removing wallpaper and online shopping. I guess that’s not a bad deal. Basically Alex does the work of three people while I do the work of one :). We’ve also been making more decisions than we ever could have expected. What light fixture would look good? Where should we put the light switch? Why is cabinet hardware so expensive? Light tile and dark walls, or light walls and funky tile? Am I choosing too much gold? What about a fireplace mantle? SO…MANY…DECISIONS.
I’d also like to take some time for a **short rant on wallpaper** When you tell people that you are taking down wallpaper, everyone has advice. They all promise they have the magic formula for wallpaper removal. Turns out, it doesn’t matter what tools you have; scraper, sprayer, simple green, fabric softener, steamer…removing wall paper still sucks. It’s tedious and boring. With that said, I seriously could not have done it without the scraper, sprayer, simple green, fabric softener, and steamer! LOL! So thank you for all those that loaned advice and equipment. **end of rant**
Shopping for our kitchen countertops. This was really cool. So many options at Global Granite and Marble.
This is the only other photo we took at the granite and marble place. I mostly just think it’s hilarious.
Finally found some cool brass hardware that won’t break the bank.
More kitchen hardware.
Our friend Lynn who OFFERED to help with the wallpaper. She is literally a saint.
Shopping for tile with Emily at Honest Home in Nulu. The options were both overwhelming and exciting!
