Because we are Indiana Wedding Photographers, we see a lot of weddings and a lot of couples. Maybe you know this about me, but I love…LOVE. I mean true love, sacrificial love, the kind that serves the others. The kind that puts others before yourself. I think it is this kind of selfless love that builds incredible relationships and lasting marriages. I believe when this kind of love is modeled by the marriages surrounding us…we are changed by it. I believe it is a privilege to bare witness to this kind of crazy awesome love.
Garrett and Ali have that kind of love. I see it in the way he looks at her. I know because she makes him want to be a better man. They push each other in their love of God and grow closer to one another in the process. Marriage can be hard…yes…there is no doubt about that. But when a marriage is built on sacrificial, selfless love, the hard stuff can be a bit easier to tackle.
Garrett and Ali were introduced at a Kentucky Derby Party. They were intrigued by one another and Garrett made sure he got Ali’s number so he could ask her out. On their first date they were no longer just intrigued, but had totally hit it off. It was fun and easy and all the things you want a first date to be. From then on it’s been two lovebirds/homebodies watching sports, and doing puzzles. They are fun and vibrant personalities that are very well loved by their family and friends.
The wedding day was a seriously perfect fall day. 70 degrees and sunny with no chance of rain. The boys got ready at a house they had spent many many teenage nights sleeping on couches and playing pranks on each other. With the childhood memories, it’s no wonder scooter races ensued. The girls got ready at the home Ali grew up in. The atmosphere was calm and easy.
One of my favorite parts of a wedding day is the first look. When the bride and groom see each other for the first time and have a few moments alone before the craziness of the day begins. This was one of our most beautiful first look locations. Just wait till you see the trees and milky backgrounds. Location aside, the bride truly stole the show. I showed Garrett and sneak peak from the back of the camera and he just couldn’t get over how amazing his bride looked. He said, “That one is going on my office wall!”
We are wishing you, Ali and Garrett, a lifetime of puzzles, Derby hats, and trips to Gatlinburg. We expect that one day you will sit down with your kids and tell stories about your first date, your first home, and your wedding day. You’ll pass around these photos with nostalgia and laughter. Keep loving each other well, and we pray for many years of happiness for the two of you!
For the lovers out there that believe in marriage and goodness. Those of you that believe in a love like Ali and Garrett’s. For couples that care less about the wedding “stuff” and more about the meaning behind it all…. We want to hear from you! Take a second to tell us about you, and let’s get together to talk about the awesome wedding you are planning!
