Well this week the renovations haven’t felt quite as dramatic. It’s been a lot of adding electrical switches, moving outlets, smoothing popcorn ceilings, and putting up drywall. Because these are changes you might not notice in photos, we decided to do something a little different for this week’s update. We decided to do a bit of dreaming as to how we will use our new home, and what the future will look like in this home.
Yes we were older when we got married which kind of put us out of that “starter home” category. We looked for a house that we could grow INTO, rather than one we would likely grow out of. That means our home is one that we expect to have a lot of firsts. First time learning to landscape, first time hosting friends for dinner, bringing home our first baby…. you get the picture. Knowing that our family would grow, learn, and experience life in this home had us thinking about how we could best use it.
When we put an offer on this house, I texted my friend Winnie to ask her about the home because I may have done a little Facebook snooping and found out that my one mutual friend with the seller was Winnie! So naturally, I asked Winnie what she thought about them. Her message back to me was awesome. She said…
“Oh I love that house!!! Lots of laughter in there! She is the sweetest and funnest woman! Her husband is quiet but a good one too. Their son always had a house full of friends. What a great home for you and Alex!”
Her comments made us so excited for the potential of raising our future family in that same house. We wanted the same things for our future. We wanted a home full of laughter, friends, and family. A home where our neighbors would always feel welcome. A home that our kids’ friends would feel comfortable and loved. A home that would be filled with prayer and where our kids would come to know Jesus. THIS is the home we are making. So take a moment to check out our video update where we talk about how we want to use each space in our cute little cape cod 🙂
